Unidentified Photographer
A City Snowstorm
Silver Print, 4.6 x 7.5 inches, circa 1910

This somewhat mysterious image unflinchingly captures the biting chill of a snow squall. The photographer has chosen the multiple-layer mounting style favored by pictorialists early in the century. But there is a distinctly modern sense to this photograph in its snapshot-like composition and unsentimental choice of subject.

The photographer has placed a monogram in the lower right corner of the image. Unfortunately, we have been unable to identify the maker of this wonderful image on the basis of the monogram.
