Chapter Eight: Passion for Redheads

This unsettling little scene throws us off-guard because the terrified woman seems to be reacting to an attacker located behind her. The angle is disorienting and it takes a moment to notice the menacing hand at the left margin of the frame. Only then do we realize that we are looking at the attacker in a bathroom mirror, while the victim sees him about to lunge at her in the tub.

Not even counting the difficulty of concealing certain anatomical features with strategically-placed soap bubbles, this is a disturbing scene worthy of the psychological thrillers of Alfred Hitchcock.

The pencilled note on the back reads “Passion for Redheads/Daring -July.” Daring Detective was another Fawcett Publication.
