At Ease: Portrait by Lorenzo Chase
Portrait of a Gentleman
Sixth-plate daguerreotype by Lorenzo G. Chase, Boston
Between 1844 and 1856, Chase had three different locations on Washington Street in Boston. In 1851, a reviewer noted the “world-wide reknown” of Chase’s daguerreotypes. He was in gold-rush California in 1852, but returned to Boston before the end of that year.
