Photography’s Beginnings — Sample Page
PHOTOGRAPHY’S BEGINNINGS includes a treasure-trove of Americana–images tracing the development of the nation, its industries and people from the 1840s until the first World War. Another section, “Gateway to the World,” presents dozens of international photographs of architecture, landscape and cultures… from Japan to Norway, from Dervishes to Laplanders.
The photographs in the book are accompanied by explanatory notes, providing a wealth of carefully-researched information. There’s also a concise guide to early photographic processes, from daguerreotypes to autochromes.
