Photography’s Beginnings — Sample Page
PHOTOGRAPHY’S BEGINNINGS includes images from the earliest photograph of a human figure on paper… to the first practical color photographs. The image shown here is an autochrome– made by a natural color process that produced glowing transparencies on glass. This photograph of two Navajo men on horseback (circa 1915) was made by Fred Payne Clatworthy, a noted autochromist whose work was published in National Geographic. The book faithfully reproduces more than a dozen superb autochromes.
