Photography as a Fine ARF! — American Museum of Photography
George B. Sperry (Toledo, Ohio): Two Double Portraits of a Boy and his Dog Collodion print cabinet cards, circa 1895
Found on facing pages of a decaying family album, these images miraculously survived in flawless condition. The photographer has somehow managed to capture matching expressions on the faces of his subjects in each of these portraits. In the first, they appear uncertain and puzzled; in the second, they seem confident and comfortable in their surroundings.
